Mike Odam - Associate Lighting Designer
Mike, a member of the Association of Lighting Designers, specialises in lighting musical theatre in the UK and internationally.
Theatre includes: Saturday Night Fever (Netherlands), Hurrem Sultan Dance Project (Istanbul), Guldestan (State Opera and Ballet Company of Turkey), Footloose (Germany) and the opening concert of the 30th Hellenic Festival (Athens 2005). Recent UK designs include: the 30th anniversary production of The Rocky Horror Show, theatre lighting consultant for We Will Rock You (Dominion), Dr Livingstone I Presume? (Riverside Studios), Smoky Joe’s Café (tour), The Rocky Horror Show (Birmingham Rep and tour), Richard O’Brien’s musical Disgracefully Yours (London and New York), Great Expectations (UK tour), Smoking with Lulu (Soho Theatre and West Yorkshire Playhouse), Bouncers (Churchill Theatre and tour) and Blithe Spirit (West Yorkshire Playhouse). Michael has lit many high profile events including the stage presentations of Mulan at Disneyland Paris and the stage presentation which also preceded the movie’s European launch. He also lit the Millennium event at Disneyland Paris and events at Alton Towers. He was associate lighting designer for Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (UK and Germany) and their production of Aida (South Korea and Germany) and, in West End, Fame, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Anything Goes, Aspects of Love, Les Misérables, Time, Guys and Dolls (London and Australia), Kiss Me, Kate, Follies, Song & Dance (London and European tour), Bugsy Malone, 42nd Street and My Fair Lady (London and Toronto), Singin’ in the Rain (NT) and, most recently, Wicked. He has been associate lighting designer on The Phantom of the Opera since the original London production. Recently he has worked on the productions in Shanghai, São Paulo, Seoul, Las Vegas and Singapore.
