Stephen was born in Watford, Hertfordshire.
Theatre includes: most recently, Bishop of Digne/ Combeferre and understudy/performed Jean Valjean and Javert in Les Misérables (Queen’s), Le Fevre and Don Atillio and understudy/performed Firmin, Joseph Buqu et and Auctioneer in The Phantom of the Opera (Her Majesty’s), The Preacher in Viol et (Young Vic New Directors Project) and Hughie Pierrepointin Our Miss Gibbs (Finborough).
Opera and operetta include: for D’Oyly Carte Opera, Sir Joseph Porter in HMS Pinafore (UK tour), Major General and Samuel in The Pirates of Penzance (Savoy), Boatswain in HMS Pinafore (Savoy and Shubert Theatre, New Haven, CT, USA) and Pavlovitch in The Count of Luxembourg (UK tour). Also, Pish-Tush in The Mikado (Carl Rosa, UK and Eire tour), Strephon in Iolanthe (Buxton Festival), Mas et to in Don Giovanni (Holland Park), Prince Yamodori in Madam Butterfly (Queen Elizab et h Hall) and he created the role of Alris in The Golden Penguin by Alla Sirenko (world premiere, Ukrainian State Opera, Lviv, Ukraine, and Covent Garden Linbury).
Film includes: the Auctioneer in the documentary Behind the Mask – The Making of The Phantom of the Opera for the DVD of the Phantom movie.
Recordings include: Pasquale in The Most Happy Fella, The Boatswain in HMS Pinafore, Galjour in Wonderful Town and the Bishop of Digne for the 21st anniversary concert of Les Misérables ( BBC Radio 2).
